Heather Wells at it again! And I'm even more in love with her now.First, I really appreciate how real this character is. I feel like Meg Cabot wrote down all of the self-deprecating comments I've made about my weight over the years. Would it be nice for Heather to be "a character who owns who she is, despite what society might say about her weight or appearance"? Sure. But it's only book 2 and we as humans don't grow that quickly, so this character needs some time! And as Heather is growing to learn to love herself (wait for it, it's coming!), I can enjoy the snarky stuff she says as she groups skinnier women by sizes.
Oh, and then there's Cooper. Yes, already madly in love with him too. I adore how he's always there to rescue Heather when she gets herself into trouble, after sticking her nose where it doesn't below.
This mystery was a little gruesome, but the suspense was heightened and I loved the plot line.

I like Cabot's writing style, and she does inject a lot of humor and snark in her books. But the plotline and the characters don't seem to change much. I may try for one more... but will take a break first.
Great book..Great series.....I read the whole series (5 books) in about a week probably would have been shorter if I had nothing else to do, but read...lol
Quick, fun read. Love the heroine, especially when she shows her fearlessness. Go heather go! It does make me want to eat less though...
Meg Cabot does it again!
This mystery was fun, flirty, suspenseful and downright excellent. This follow-up to Size 12 Isn't Fat, continues the tale of Heather Wells as she tries to get her life on track while managing a huge crush on her landlord, re-connecting with her ex-jailbird dad, and solving a heinous murder to boot.
You don't need to be size 12 or 14 to identify with her quirky character and mental ramblings. Heather appeals to any woman who's ever been underestimated and tossed a few bad cards in the game of life.
I have read a few of Meg Cabot's young adult books and enjoyed them but wanted something a little more adult. I saw the title of the first Heather Wells book "Size 12 is Not Fat" and as a woman who is the average size of American women, had to read it. I fell in love with Heather immediately because unlike other fallen pop stars, she is actually trying to do something with her life. I had to read the second book "Size 14 isn't Fat Either" and I loved it even more.
This book is great for people who like comedic mysteries.
In this second book in the Heather Wells series, Heather's dorm finds a head boiling in their stove. No body, just the head. As Heather has already solved one set of murders, people assume she will try and find the murderer once again. While at first she tries to stay out of it, she inevitably stumbles upon certain things that make her even more curious. And while the case is being solved, we get to meet Heather's father and learn more about her past. You also get to see some romance develop, as well as unexpected turns to the murder plot. This was a very compelling read, as all books by Meg Cabot are.
I love this series so much and can't wait to read the rest of them. This book takes place in the same school year as the first one and there is another murder. The book did a good job reminding the readers what had occurred in the previous book which I thought was very important, especially if it had been a while since you read the first one. For me, it didn't make since why she was investigating after what she told people and since the police were already involved, but it was still enjoyable having her try to figure everything out and needing to get saved. The only complaint I have is that it was not long enough. I would not want to live in this dorm...I mean residence hall.
